Odubu commends Buhari over meeting with opposition parties

BENIN CITY-IMEMDIATE past Deputy Governor of Edo State, Dr Pius Odubu, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari over his recent meeting with the leadership of the two major political parties in the country, saying that such action distinguished him as a unique politician. Odubu who stated that weekend in Benin City, described the meeting as a good omen for thr nation’s democracy, adding that President Buhari has demonstrated a high level of leadership quality by this singular act. His words, “For me, the recent meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari, the Leadership of the APC and that of the PDP is a highly welcomed initiative. It is a step in the right direction. It shows a high sense of responsibility on the part of the President as a true Leader. It is ample manifestation that our Democracy is maturing. “I give Kudos to President Buhari and also kudos to Ahmed Makarfi the Chairman of PDP for their matured approach to Politics. This has demonstrated that our politicians are beginning to put the interest of the country first and above all other interests. “In a democracy, the interest and wellbeing of the people should be paramount and must super cede other interests. So the two major political parties in the country should be highly commended for this meeting with Mr. President. I am happy with it and I think every right thinking Nigerian should be happy about this positive development in our body Polity. It shows that the President represents all the good people of Nigeria”. Commenting on the President’s health situation and his return from his medical trip, the former deputy Governor stated that “Nigerians love President Buhari and also wish him well. Now that he has returned to the country, he should settle down for business. The noise about his health to me is not relevant. We are only human and that means we can fall ill at anytime. “One of the most popular Presidents of the United States in recent time, President Ronald Reagan of blessed memory, suffered from a disease called Alzheimer yet he was not castigated by Americans. Despite his illness he served out his tenure in office. Nigeria is our country we have nowhere else to go; we must join hands to build it. Nigeria remains one invisible entity not minding our ethnic, religious and socio-political affiliations” he stated.
